One-day Tour of Dujiangyan Irrigation System and Mount. Qingcheng.

Overview:

The one-day tour in Chengdu is to visit Dujiangyan, the oldest surviving irrigation system in the world, and Mount Qingcheng, one of the four Taoist Centers in China. Today, let’s appreciate the wonder of ancient China and experience the intriguing Taoist Culture.

Itinerary:

· Get insight into the Dujiangyan Irrigation System and appreciate the wisdom of the ancient labouring people

· Discover the intriguing Taoist Culture and indulge in the beautiful natural scenery

· In the morning

You guide and driver will pick you up at the appointed place and drive about one hour to transfer you to Dujiangyan Irrigation System.

Dujiangyan is the oldest and only surviving no-dam irrigation system in the world. Over 2,200 years ago, it was constructed under the leadership of Li Bing, a local official, and his son. It consists of three parts-Yuzi, Feishayan and Baopingkou, which work together to control the water flow. For several centuries, the great irrigation system has contributed a lot to the flood prevention and agricultural development, thus making Chengdu Plain “the land of abundance”. while you are sightseeing, your tour guide will inform you about its history and functions in detail. It time is allowed, you can also pay a visit to Erwang Temple, built to commemorate Li Bing and his son by ancient local people.

· In the afternoon

After lunch, we will continue our tour in Mount. Qingcheng. The drive is about half an hour.

Mount. Qingcheng is one of the most famous Taoist centers in China and is famous for its tranquil atmosphere. You can choose to take a cable car or climb stone staircases to find quaint temples and pavilions scattered in the forest. This afternoon is free for you to indulge in the beautiful scenery of mountains and waters and have a deep understanding of Taoism.
