Overview:


Welcome to the real home of giant pandas, a beautiful valley in Wolong of Sichuan Province. The two-day tour covers two major activities-visiting the local panda museum, and working as a panda volunteer for a whole day. As a volunteer, you can feed pandas and clean their enclosures. It is a good chance for you to have a close encounter with giant pandas. If time permits, you can go hiking in the Dengsheng Valley nearby and discover some fantastic fauna and flora species.

Itinerary:


· Day 1 Chengdu Arrival

Welcome to Chengdu, the hometown of Giant Panda. After picking you up, you tour and driver will escort you to Wolong Town. The drive is about two and a half hours.



Today, we will visit the Wolong Giant Panda Museum, where there houses wonderful pictures, vivid models and specimens. It is a good place for you to know more information about giant pandas and other endangered species. If time permits, your guide will take you to Dengsheng Valley Nature Reserve. It will take you about one hour to arrive there. Under the leadership of experts or your guide, you can learn more about giant pandas, fauna and flora species in this area. If not, you can take a walk around and visit some local families to experience the local cultures. After that, your driver and tour will transfer you to the hotel.





· Day 2 Volunteer Day in the Wolong Panda Base

After a simply breakfast, you will be driven to Wolong Panda Base which is the real home for the giant pandas. Upon arrival, you have to sign safety agreements and put on work uniforms and gloves. As a panda volunteer, you need not only to feed giant pandas but to clean their enclosures.



In the morning, you need to pick up panda feces, clean the panda enclosures, and replace the leftovers with fresh bamboos and panda cakes. In the afternoon, you have the chance to make panda cakes and feed them under the guideline of experienced keepers. During the day, you can not only get a close encounter with giant pandas but also learn more knowledge about them in depth. The volunteer program will end at around 4 p.m., and you can receive a certificate and some souvenirs. Afterwards, your driver will drive you back to Chengdu.
