Two-day Tour of Chengdu Panda and Sichuan Cuisine

Overview:

This tour covers two of the most important features of Chengdu: pandas and Sichuan cuisine. On  the first day, enjoy a close encounter with giant pandas and discover the secrets of Sichuan Cuisine by seeing, smelling, touching and tasting; on the second day, learn to cook Sichuan dishes under the help of a local chef. It can be a wonderful tour to understand what Chengdu is and have fun like local people.

Highlights:

· Enjoy an exciting encounter with fluffy giant pandas

· Be a chef and cook tasty Sichuan dishes

Itinerary:

· Day 1 Panda Base-Sichuan Cuisine Museum

In the morning, you will be picked up and transferred to the nearest Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, which is home to more than 100 giant pandas. When arriving at 8:30 a.m., we will catch their feeding time when most of them are active. You could see more than 50 giant pandas immersing themselves in different things. It can be a good chance for you to observe giant panda’s physical features and living habits. Sometimes, if you are lucky enough, you can even pay a visit to adorable panda cubs in the panda kindergartens and nursery rooms.

Leaving the panda center, you will be taken to the Sichuan Cuisine Museum, the only eatable museum in Sichuan. Have a taste of diverse Sichuan dishes, like dandan noddles, mapo tofu, kung pao chicken, etc. Afterwards, appreciate delicate antiques, artifacts and interesting recipe books and learn the secrets of Sichuan cuisines in depth. Next, watch the production process of doubanjiang (spicy fermented bean paste) and visit the largest Temple of Kitchen God. Luckily, you may have a chance to watch the worship ceremony.

After this happy visit, enjoy a hotpot to end the day. According to your own tastes, you can put whatever you want into the steaming hot pot. While enjoying the tasty meal, you can engage in intimate conversations and unwind yourself.

· Day 2 Preparing and Cooking Authentic Sichuan Cuisine

Today we will visit a local family and learn to cook authentic Sichuan dishes.

Go to the market and buy some fresh vegetables and meats. Then, pay a visit to a local family. With the help of the local chef, you can learn to cook at least three typical Sichuan dishes by yourself. When it’s time for lunch, you can share and enjoy your dishes with your partners and the local family.

This afternoon can be taken at your leisure. You can choose to explore this city further or stay with the local family to enjoy a relaxing afternoon, playing cards or just having casual chats.

In the late afternoon, we will escort you back to your hotel or send you off. If you want to extend your stay in China, we are willing to make customized tour plans for you.
