Four-day Panda Volunteer Tour at Bifengxia Panda Base

Overview:

Welcome to Bifengxia and work as a volunteer in the panda base. The four-day tour is prepared for panda lovers. If you covet a close encounter with giant pandas and want to look after these fluffy animals, this tour should be given the top priority. Let’s step into the panda base and get a further understanding on China’s national treasure-giant pandas.

Itinerary:

· Day 1 Chengdu-Bifengxia Panda Center

We will drive from Chengdu to Bifengxia, a scenic valley with diverse fauna and flora and the home to giant pandas. After two and a half hours, we will arrive here. After checking in, your guide will help you register for your following days volunteering work at the panda center. Afterwards, you can take a walk around and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Bifengxia Valley which is not far from here is highly recommended. You can go hiking here and appreciate the intoxicating scenery along the way. From tomorrow on, you will stay two days with these lovely pandas and take care of them.

Day 2-3: Bifengxia Panda Base Volunteering

Firstly, a short training is prepared for you to learn basically how to take care of pandas and how to cooperate with the panda keepers here.

After that, your volunteer tour begins. You should work as a panda keeper, panda nutritionist and interpreter.

As a panda keeper, you need to clean their enclosures-picking up panda feces, washing the floor and replacing the leftovers with fresh bamboos and cakes. In addition, you may also need to collect the behavior data to record their physical conditions.

As a panda nutritionist, you need to prepare food-washing vegetables, fruits and bamboos, making panda cakes and finally feeding them.

As an interpreter, you need to introduce both the species and all the pandas in the base. When you introduce the species, the history, physical features and living habits are required. When you introduce each of them in the base, their names, different habits, behaviors and stories should be involved. It is a challenging work, be ready to absorb loads of knowledge about giant pandas!  

Day 4 Bifengxia-Chengdu

After a simple breakfast, your guide will meet you and help you check out. After returning the working suits back, the panda base will award you a volunteer certificate. You can take a photo with the staff who accompany you for two days so as to keep the unforgettable memory. Afterwards, your guide will transfer you back to Chengdu and see you off. If you want to extend your stay in China, we are willing to make customized tour plans for you.
